5th Asia–Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art
The Asia–Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT) is the Queensland Art Gallery’s flagship international contemporary art event. Established in 1993, it is the only major series of exhibitions in the world to focus exclusively on the contemporary art of Asia and the Pacific, including Australia. This richly illustrated publication accompanies the fifth in the series and examines the work of 37 individual artists, filmmakers and performers, as well as two multi-artist projects. Essays explore the traditions and histories that inform the practices of each artist — such as Ai Weiwei, Jackie Chan, Anish Kapoor, Viet Linh, John Pule and Talvin Singh — while broader cultural and historical contexts are examined in a number of lead essays by eminent writers.
Contributing authors include: Taro Amano, Geremie Barmé, Julie Ewington, Gridthiya Gaweewong, Ross Gibson, Vilsoni Hereniko, Gary Hickey, Rupa Huq, Lu Jie, Robert Leonard, Quddus Mirza, Suhanya Raffel, Kong Rithdee, Yung Sai-shing, Chaitanya Sambrani, Lynne Seear, Haema Sivanesan, Teresia Teaiwa, Nicholas Thomas and Chang Tsong-zung
