Artlines magazine: Art from New Zealand; Hats: An Anthology; Ron Mueck
The first edition of Artlines for 2010 previews a diverse set of local, national and international exhibitions, including ‘Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones’, ‘James Fardoulys: A Queensland Naive Artist’, ‘Move: The Exhibition’ and ‘Ron Mueck’, as well as the forthcoming ‘Valentino, Retrospective: Past/Present/Future’.
‘Unnerved: The New Zealand Project’ is explored in this issue including a feature on New Zealand Film Noir by Geoff Mayer. We also look at the larger than life hyperreal sculptures of Ron Mueck, introduce ‘Hats: An Anthology’ and investigate the world of millinery in an interview with advocate and collector of high fashion hats, Deborah Quinn.
David Burnett explores the city of old London Town in an article discussing works by turn-of-the-century artists Walter Richard Sickert, Walter Greaves, Philip Wilson Steer and John Virtue.
This issue profiles recent Gallery acquisitions including photos and masks by Romuald Hazoumé, a 1950s Sideboard by Schulim Krimper and a photograph from Parastou Farouhar’s Swanrider series. There is a user’s guide to the Gallery’s redesigned website as well as our regular mix of reviews of books and films.
Artlines is published four times a year (March, June, September and December).
