Max Gimblett: The Language of Drawing

Anne Kirker, John Yau
64 pages paperback colour

Max Gimblett’s career as a painter began in San Francisco in 1965 and continued in New York, where he set up a studio in 1974. Since then he has had numerous solo exhibitions and his work is held in leading art museums in the United States, Australia and New Zealand. Few artists of Gimblett’s generation have produced works on paper with such commitment, combining the spiritual and metaphysical with both Eastern and Western impulses. This book explores the content of 100 of his art works and demonstrates the vision of a senior abstractionist over a period of three decades.
