Andy Warhol
Andy Warhol
Published for the first survey of Andy Warhol’s work to be held in Australia, this richly illustrated publication explores the reality and mythology surrounding one of the twentieth century’s most significant artists and his continuing influence.
Featuring 14 essays and interviews, the publication approaches Warhol from a range of engaging perspectives — from Warhol’s video and television collaborator Vincent Fremont, photographer Billy Name, and film director John Waters to some uniquely Australian voices. Musician Robert Forster recalls the influence of Warhol and the Velvet Underground on his own band, the Go-Betweens; and novelist Linda Jaivan charts an irreverent journey on fame and the contemporary cultural phenomenon of reality TV.
Contributing authors: Philip Brophy, Rex Butler, David Burnett, Nicholas Chambers, Andrew Clark, Douglas Crimp, Daniel Mudie Cunningham, Julie Ewington, Robert Forster, Vincent Fremont, Linda Jaivan, Suhanya Raffel, Angus Trumble, Matt Wrbican
Published for the ‘Andy Warhol’ exhibition organised by the Queensland Art Gallery and The Andy Warhol Museum, one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.
