Floating Life: Contemporary Aboriginal Fibre Art highlights the continuing importance of fibre within Aboriginal culture and the extraordinary inventiveness of the artists exploring the medium. Works range from classic interpretations of woven forms inspired by ancient stories, to contemporary pieces that continue traditions of making practical and decorative fibre objects for personal and ritual use, including ceremonial objects, such as banumbirr (morning star) poles and balmarra (dance frames).
